The Jjohns sign to Modern Sky UK

Modern Sky UK sign up the Liverpool quartet with a growing reputation.

Modern Sky

Modern Sky UK is the label carrying some of the hottest bands in the UK at the moment with The Blinders, Catholic action and The Slow Readers Club on the books. With an indisputable track record of picking up some of the best new sounds in the UK, the label has signed up effervescent Liverpool quartet The Jjohns.

Comprised of three brothers of the Dunning family, Dom on vocals and guitar, Mik on Guitar and Bernie on Bass. They are joined by Sam Burkett on drums and make melodic guitar pop thats both infectious and timeless. Coming out of Liverpool’s Walton area, front man Dom Dunning says the band want to create music that’s “Harmonic, homegrown, but most importantly – a band who write inspiring melodies singing about, what we know, where we live, and who we love.”

Initially creating music to escape the monotony of day to day life in a Merseyside suburb, it wasn’t long before the lads realized the potential and potency of the music they were making and they dared to dream bigger.

With support slots for likes of Circa Waves, Trampolene, Paris Youth Foundation and Jordan Allen, the band soon earned themselves something of a fierce reputation for the fantastic and the unpredictable on the live circuit, already been picking up early comparisons to greats the likes of The La’s, The Beatles and Oasis.
Fresh from their head-turning festival debut at Liverpool Sound City this year, the band landed a deal with the Modern Sky UK label. With the wind of their recent signing behind their sails, the band are now primed and poised for a bright summer of festival appearances (including a set at this Y-Not Festival 2018), plus a headline show to look forward to at Manchester’s premier indie establishment Jimmy’s this September. .
Signing with Modern Sky UK label for a clutch of singles and the promise of their debut EP, expected for release at end of this summer, prepare to welcome The Jjohns to your record collection very soon…
