The Jjohns release self titled EP with new single Out Of My Head

The Jjohns have released their self debut titled The Jjohns EP on Modern Sky UK along with new single Out Of My Head. Comprising of the three Dunning brothers, in Dom on lead vocals and guitar, Mik on backing vocals and guitar and Bernie on bass, as well as their friend Sam Burkett on drums, the foursome make melodic guitar pop thats both infectious and timeless. Coming out of Liverpool’s Walton area, Dom says the band want to create music that’s “Harmonic, homegrown, but most importantly – a band who write inspiring melodies singing about, what we know, where we live, and who we love.” With a sound that is distinctly Merseyside, it’s no surprise that The Jjohns have drawn comparisons to other Liverpool luminaries The Beatles, The Coral and The La’s.

New single Out Of My Head is a pounding and uplifting tune that carries a signature Mersey melody. With previous singles Sewn, Lucy and So Alone making up the four track EP, frontman Dom Dunning says of the new track:

“’Out of My Head’ is about someone you’re completely infatuated with, someone you can’t stop thinking about. It’s a proper rock and roll love song.”

Recently signed up to Modern Sky UK, they released their first single on the label, Sewn back in July. With that tune inspired by a Fleetwood Mac listening binge while the band were out on a tour of the Netherlands last year, Sewn combined chugging guitars, irresistible harmonies and vocal hooks all delivered with a trademark Scouse tone.

After a host of support slots with the likes of Circa Waves, Trampolene, Paris Youth Foundation and Jordan Allen, the band have earned a reputation for live sets that are both blistering and unpredictable. As with most family bands, the sibling rivalry often boils over into their performance with The Pentatonic remarking that “The Dunnings are one drunken onstage barney away from being iconic”.

The Jjohns is out now on Modern Sky UK Records
