Newly signed to Distiller, the Macclesfield trio of Rob Ellis (lead vocals, guitar), Lou Cotterill (bass, vocals) and Jacob Leff (drums, vocals) have spent the last few years garnering a reputation for fantastic live performances and building a cult fanbase. Despite only releasing a handful of tracks, Cassia have amassed over 3 million Spotify streams based purely on word of mouth and their tireless live schedule.
This latest release was written at 3am during a bout of insomnia and explores ideas of adopting a fresh new outlook following the disintergration of a relationship. The track displays the disparate influences of the band from the lyrics of Talking Heads to the Afrobeat rhythms of Fela Kuti and Tony Allen and results in this enjoyable, effervescent Indie-Pop number that’s evocative of Vampire Weekend and early Foals.
This Autumn will see the three-piece play some of the biggest headline shows of their career so far, including dates at The Garage, London and the O2 Ritz, Manchester. Expect more new music from Cassia in the coming months…
