If 2018 has a sound, it’s definitely Dream Pop. Therefore, 2018 looks to be Anteros’ year. Following from their catchy and anthemic singles of 2017 Breakfast and Bonnie, new single Call Your Mother is released alongside announcement of their UK headline tour.
The London quartet, lead by multi-talented fashionista Laura Hayden have been hotly tipped for a while and 2019 will see the release of their much anticipated debut album, produced by Mercury Prize winner Charlie Andrew. After helming albums for Alt-J, Benjamin Francis Leftwich and Madness, Andrew has been busy capturing the effervescent spirit of Anteros’ live act which has been garnering a legion of fans from the summer festival circuit.
The recording sessions at Somerset’s Distillery recording studio have produced new single Call Your Mother which represents a leap forward in the genesis of Anteros as force to be reckoned with. Dripping with Hayden’s catchy choruses and effortless Blondiesque cool, this track is just the latest in Anteros’ growing catalogue of indie bangers.
After a busy year of performing with support slots for Two Door Cinema Club, Sundara Karma and Circa Waves, their October tour sees them play their biggest live shows to date. The video is the first in a series of short films shot in Marrakech, co-directed by frontwoman Laura Hayden and creative director Bella Howard (Lana Del Rey, Charli XCX, HAIM.) Speaking about the inspiration behind the video, Laura says:
“Growing up, leaving home, the first taste of freedom is the sweetest. It leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. Confusion, mess, self-awareness, little big disasters, discovering the grey area. Having to stew there for a while. Communication, self-reflection, the BIG picture, the small ones that get you there. Where to look? What happens next? Excitement. Melancholy. You stand still, you move on. You build your own home.”
